Terms of use

Last updated 9 October 2026

Battledle is a free daily puzzle about historical battles, made by an independent developer in the United Kingdom. By playing it you agree to these terms. They're meant to be short and fair; if anything is unclear, email [email protected].

Playing

Battledle is free to play, with no account needed. Please play it as a game: don't try to break, overload or interfere with the site, and don't use the feedback box to send spam, abuse or anything unlawful.

History, roughly right

Battledle is a game, not a work of reference. Figures such as troop numbers and casualties come from Wikipedia and Wikidata and are often estimates that historians disagree about; dates, places and names are simplified to fit the clues. Some maps are drawn for Battledle with the help of AI, from Wikipedia and historical maps, and may contain mistakes. If you spot one, the feedback box after each puzzle is the best way to tell us.

Maps, pictures and text

Many maps come from Wikimedia Commons and other open collections. Each is used under its own licence (often public domain or Creative Commons), and its author and licence are shown on the result screen with a link to where it came from. Summaries of each battle come from Wikipedia and are available under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike licence. The name Battledle, the game's design and its own code and drawings belong to its maker; please don't copy the game as a whole.

Tips

Tips through Ko-fi are voluntary gifts to support the game. They don't buy anything, and they're handled by Ko-fi under its own terms.

No guarantees

Battledle is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it running and accurate, but we can't promise it will always be available, error-free or that your statistics and streaks will be kept (they're saved in your own browser, so clearing it clears them). We may change or stop the game at any time. Nothing in these terms limits your rights under UK consumer law.

Privacy

How we handle data is explained in the privacy notice.

The law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales.

Changes

If these terms change, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
